A Big-Picture Vision of Yourself and Your Life – A Source of Powerful Motivation and Inspiration!
Tbilisi, Georgia, 2015
How often do you think about what your life will look like one year from now? Or five years from now? How clearly can you see yourself—your career, your environment, your lifestyle, your personality—who you’ve become and where you’ve arrived in 1, 5, or even 10 years?
You might wonder, what’s the point of looking that far ahead?
But having a big-picture vision of yourself and your life carries tremendous power. Do you realize how much motivation, inspiration, energy, enthusiasm, and strength it can give you? ❤
When we know exactly where we are headed and who we want to become, it helps us face the obstacles and challenges along the way. It helps us not give up, to hold on to our faith and determination. It allows us to look at ourselves and our lives from a larger perspective, guided by a greater vision—rather than thinking narrowly, from the limited perspective of today or yesterday.
I was reminded of this just two weeks ago in Kyiv, during a Platinum Group meeting with my mentor, Mykola Latansky. He led us through one of Jack Canfield’s most powerful exercises: “The Party 5 Years From Now.” We staged a celebration and for two full hours we all imagined ourselves living in the year 2020. 😀 It was incredible—we shared with each other what our lives looked like, what we had achieved, who we had become, and so on. Honestly, I’ve never done a stronger exercise—it was so real that I barely wanted to come back to 2015. 😀
This vision now helps me every single day: to look at myself and my life differently, to rise above everyday problems and difficulties, to act more boldly, and to take greater risks. Especially when I realize how much there still is to do, how many times I will need to leave my comfort zone. 😀
Of course, fear, doubts, and anxiety are very natural—they show up whenever we do something we’ve never done before. If we only view them through the lens of today, it’s easy to give in, to let fear or disappointment win. But when we hold a clear vision of where we are headed, who we will become on this exciting and challenging path, how much we will grow and contribute to others, those difficulties lose much of their power.
That’s what I love most about coaching—it gives us this vision, and along with it, deep faith, strength, inspiration, and motivation. ❤
Just today, with my third client, I finished a session using the resource-discovery method “Balance Model.” By the fourth session, using the fourth technique, I saw again how powerful it is—how it provides exactly this big-picture vision. I’m sure that every time my clients revisit their notes from this session, they’ll feel more motivated, more inspired, and more empowered to follow through with their plans and never give up!
Robin Sharma says: “If your dreams and goals don’t scare you, they’re not big enough.” Personally, every time I picture mine, they scare me a lot! But at the same time, my clear vision gives me tremendous strength—because I know it’s real, it’s possible, and I know the results it will bring, how much I will grow, and how incredible it feels to already imagine being there. That fear disappears and transforms into an exciting challenge. And that is exactly the gift of coaching! My life is truly divided into two parts: before coaching and after coaching.
To look at yourself and your life from the future—oh, it’s amazing!!!
So tell me:
How much do your dreams and goals scare you?
How clearly do you see who you will be after you achieve them?
How will your life change—across all its different areas?
How clearly do you see the impact this will have on others?
How vividly can you imagine and feel all of this?
And how much does this vision help you overcome today’s difficulties and challenges?
With love,
Tina Basilaia ❤
