Feeding the White Wolf Within ✨🐺

6 February, 2018

Inside, each of us knows ourselves. Deep down, we all know how strong, radiant, and rich we truly are. But do we always manage to connect with ourselves and live in alignment with who we are?
Do we always remember who we really are?

So many thoughts and identities live within us. We identify ourselves with so many things, and beyond them, that precious pearl of who we truly are gets lost somewhere. This hurts us the most—because in truth, we already know who we are.

It’s not really other people who anger us, hurt us, or disappoint us. If we’re honest with ourselves, we know that it’s only our own mind—and how amazing it is to realize how quickly we can stop it, and that we only need ourselves to do it. What incredible power this is within us!

There’s a beautiful Native saying: “Inside of us live two wolves—one white, one black. The one who wins is the one we feed.”
So what are we feeding inside us? The one who we truly are—or the one we pretend to be, the one we think we are?
And what happens if we start feeding the White Wolf within us?

Starting this process and stepping out of a closed circle is never easy. The inner battle can feel so intense. But the moment we take even one very small step, the process begins—an extraordinary power awakens in us and leads us on the path of being our true selves.

I’m reminded of a story that created a huge turning point in me.

I was abroad, up in the mountains, at a training (I can’t share the details for confidentiality). It was evening, and we were at our night session when suddenly the trainer told us to take off our shoes and follow him. We walked outside and saw smoke, fire, and an elderly man waiting for us. He had prepared a path of burning coals for us to walk on barefoot.

A wave of fear seized me… I couldn’t imagine how I could possibly walk barefoot on fire. I was terrified, and I let the others go first. One by one, everyone walked across the coals. I saw them succeed, but still I couldn’t bring myself to do it. Finally, I decided I had to face it. I went to the elderly man and asked him to repeat the instructions for me.

The moment I stepped onto the coals, all fear and panic disappeared. Instead, I felt an incredible surge of energy and freedom in my body. I started walking, running, jumping, singing, dancing across the fire. Our trainer looked at me in amazement, wondering what had awakened inside me. I couldn’t stop—it was the most exhilarating feeling. The very thing I had feared turned out to be nothing, and dancing right on top of that fear became pure joy. In the end, I think I danced and jumped more than anyone else 😆😆😆. I’ll never forget that day and that feeling.

Now, whenever I hesitate or feel afraid, I remember that I am the one who once danced on fire—and I smile. I smile at the funny ways we humans tell ourselves stories, convincing ourselves of limitations, while deep inside we already know who we are and what we’re capable of. Yes, we’re really that sweet ☺️

When we begin feeding our true “Self”—in Native words, the White Wolf—it grows, it awakens, it wins. As a result, a profound sense of harmony, peace, and freedom fills us, and we begin (and continue) to live in full alignment with ourselves. The only thing that gets in the way are our thoughts and false beliefs. And yet, the beautiful truth is that we can break through those illusions. One small step is all it takes—and suddenly, the whole illusion falls apart, disappears, and a tremendous energy and strength awakens within us 😍😍😍.

I choose to feed the White Wolf.
I believe in you—and I believe in myself. We can do everything, because within us shines an immense light ☀️☀️☀️. How could it possibly be hidden? How could it not radiate with its full spectrum of colors and brilliance?! ✨🌟✨☀️✨🌟✨☀️✨
