Traveling With My Grandmas — My Dream Came True!

December 16, 2019
My greatest dream was to travel with my grandmas. In general, I’ve been so lucky with my grandparents! 🙏🏻😍🥰✨ Their love and care are beyond measure — they are my examples of kindness, warmth, humanity, and goodness. Sadly, my grandfathers are no longer with us, but my grandmas are still by my side, and I pray that God keeps them with me for many more years to come… 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Do you remember that childhood poem? (It’s common in Georgia)
“Grandma! I swear on my mother,
I will always love you!
I’ll buy you golden glasses,
When I grow up!”
I always joke with my grandmas that I’ll be that first grandchild who actually buys them those “golden glasses” 😅 — just kidding, of course! But for me, those “golden glasses” symbolize making my grandmas happy, brightening their lives, and honoring everything they’ve done for me.
I’ve always wanted them to travel — to see the world, to have adventures. When I travel, I often meet adorable elderly women their age, walking hand in hand, exploring new cities, enjoying life… and every time I see them, I imagine my grandmas traveling, smiling, and soaking up life like that.
And this year, that big dream came true — in the most unexpected and miraculous way! 🤩🤩🤩
On my 2019 vision board, I had written: “Take my grandmas on a trip.” I didn’t know when, where, or how it would happen, but I trusted that life would show me the way.
On September 28, after finishing my half marathon in Tbilisi, I found out about a contest organized by the insurance company Euroins. The rules were simple — upload your half marathon photo, and whoever received the most likes would win a two-person travel package. I had never taken part in such contests before, but the idea touched me deeply — I saw it as a sign from the universe that if I won, I’d take my grandmas with me and gift them beautiful days. 🌸✨
My Facebook friends helped so much to make my photo a winning one — thank you all from the bottom of my heart! 😍😍😍✨ And a huge thank you to Euroins Insurance Company for giving me the opportunity to bring such joy to two of the most precious people in my life! 😍✨
Thank you also for all the care and attention you showed us, making our trip comfortable, safe, and truly delightful.
We spent four unforgettable days in Budapest! One grandma is 79, the other 72, and I was a little nervous about how they’d handle the flight, but everything went perfectly. We explored the city’s sights, walked along its charming streets, admired the night panorama, enjoyed a river cruise, tasted the local cuisine — including the famous goulash — and visited the festive Christmas markets.
We even visited the world-famous New York Café, a stunning café-museum where many movies have been filmed. This was their favorite part of the trip — and an unforgettable one! There, we met a sweet local pianist — an elderly gentleman who was completely charmed by my grandmas. He dedicated two songs to them: “Tbiliso” and then “Suliko.” The whole café applauded us, and it turned into a truly magical evening! 😍🤩🎉🙏🏻❤️✨
But most importantly — my grandmas saw that no matter how old you are, life continues! There’s always more ahead, and at every age, life can be full of adventures, beauty, and music dedicated just to you. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I’m so deeply happy that I could bring such joy to my dearest ones — my sweet grandmas — and give them days they’ll remember for a long time. It’s an indescribable happiness and, I think, one of the most meaningful things we can do — to create beautiful moments for our loved ones, especially for the older generation: to honor them, care for them, and show them just how precious and important they are to us! 😍🙏🏻🥰❤️✨
They truly need this. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
To my beloved grandmas — I wish you health, long life, and many more beautiful days ahead! 🙏🏻😍🥰❤️✨✨✨
