Why Should We Step Out of Our Comfort Zone?
Why should we step out of our comfort zone and dare to do everything we truly want—yet so often come up with a million reasons to stay inside that zone? ↓
Today I had a coaching session with Tanya Latanska—and I was the coach! :)) ❤
For those of you who don’t know, Tanya is the wife of Kolya (Mykola Latansky), with whom I studied coaching and attended many trainings. ❤
Tanya posted in our group of coaches that she needed help working through something and asked if anyone had time and interest to support her. As soon as I saw her post, I really wanted to offer my help and hold that session for her. But at first, I felt a little nervous. Naturally, my mind instantly came up with a million reasons why I shouldn’t:
“Tanya is such an amazing and experienced coach—what if I can’t work as well as she does? What will she think of me?”
“What if I can’t run the session in Russian as smoothly as I do in Georgian?”
…And so on, and so on. We’re all masters at inventing reasons like this, aren’t we? :)))
But then I reminded myself: the way we act in one situation is the way we act everywhere. It’s always the same thoughts and habits running the show—the only thing that changes is the situation. So I told myself, “Alright, Tina, step out of your comfort zone and message Tanya.” :))
And you know what? The session turned out to be amazing and powerful. Later I even found out that Kolya was also listening in the background! :))))) He liked it so much that he invited me to come to Ukraine and work with them at their Academy. ❤
Whether I’ll actually go or not—I don’t know yet. But the fact itself made me so happy. It reminded me how true the beautiful phrase is: “Carpe diem”—seize the moment. Do you feel like doing something? Did an idea come to you? Step out of your comfort zone right there in the moment and just do it! ❤ You never know what wonderful results it might bring. But if we don’t take the moment when it’s fresh, later it’s often too late.
If I hadn’t dared to step out of my comfort zone that day, I wouldn’t have had the chance to test myself in such a great situation, with such an inspiring professional. I wouldn’t have received that feedback from people I deeply respect. And I certainly wouldn’t have heard such an exciting invitation from Kolya himself. 😀
So, my friends, think about it: what is it that you want to do, but haven’t dared yet? What excuses are you feeding yourself that hold you back, even though deep inside you want it, and you know that if you don’t take the chance, you’ll later regret letting it slip away?
Be bold. Step out of your comfort zone. Because that’s where all the interesting things happen. ❤
If not now, then when?
If not you, then who? 😉
P.S. Share your results with me afterwards—I’d be so happy to hear them! ❤ ❤ ❤
